School Rules ? Yes, we do have them !
The school rules can be summed up by the following general statement :-
The school is a community and pupils are expected to show respect to all members of that community. They should therefore be honest, well-mannered, punctual, considerate to others and obedient to those responsible for their welfare.
Students and parents must accept that while at school or involved in a school activity of any kind, anywhere, students are the responsibility of their teachers and therefore subject, without question, to their authority.
A simplified set of rules which is necessary for safety will be presented to the children at regular intervals and the reasons for these rules explained. In this way, students will be led to appreciate the effect of their actions, and the consequences for themselves and others, in an attempt to train them to the best form of discipline, namely self-discipline.
Good behaviour and diligent work are encouraged by a system of praise and rewards in the form of stars and star prizes. Most children respond eagerly to this positive feedback and it is therefore rarely necessary to resort to stronger disciplinary measures.
And for those who don't ? ...
Disciplinary Procedures
Most cases of unacceptable behaviour are spontaneous, thoughtless acts which will be dealt with immediately and as appropriate by a member of staff. Stern words are usually sufficient.
Children over 7 years of age who fail to respond to repeated correction by the teachers will be liable to a period of detention.
Repeated unacceptable behaviour, or failure to respond satisfactorily to correction by staff, will be brought to the attention of the parents who will be requested to come to school to consider the problem jointly with the teacher and headmistress.
In the case of unacceptable behaviour or standards which fail to improve after due warning, a student will be liable to suspension or expulsion at the discretion of the headmistress.
